The Consumer Protection Department in Al Buraimi Governorate destroyed 1,062 bags of better quality non-smoked chewed tobacco, as part of the efforts made by the authority, represented by its various directorates and departments in the governorates, to combat the spread of prohibited substances that have an impact on the health and safety of the individual and society.

The details come back after follow-up and prior control of the movement of selling non-smoked chewed tobacco in the governorate’s markets, and the judicial control officers were then able to control the quantities of the tobacco and its promoters in the stores of a commercial store, which is the den of trading and selling for this pest, and it is wrapped and ready for sale and use, and accordingly the administration took all legal measures against Seizures and violators, as the seized items were confiscated, seized and destroyed.

Trade in smokeless tobacco is in violation of Resolution No. (256/2015) amended by Resolution No. (301/2016) regarding the ban on trading non-smoked chewed tobacco in any form and under any name.

Accordingly, the control violation was issued, and the seized quantities were confiscated and destroyed. The Consumer Protection Authority calls on all merchants and commercial establishments to adhere to health regulations and requirements and not to harm the health and safety of consumers in any way. It also calls on consumers to report violations that detract from their rights guaranteed by law.
