13th Oman Poetry Festival Concludes in Muscat

Muscat: The activities of the 13th edition of the Oman Poetry Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, concluded this evening after five days of rich cultural and literary engagement.

The festival featured the participation of a distinguished group of Omani poets, alongside a number of poets from various Arab countries, reflecting the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to fostering cultural dialogue and promoting Arab literary creativity.

The closing ceremony was held under the patronage of His Excellency Saud bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Governor of Muscat, at the Ministry of Information Theatre in the Governorate of Muscat.

At the outset of the ceremony, poet Dr. Omar Mahrous delivered a speech on behalf of the participating poets. He noted that the 13th Oman Poetry Festival was not merely a passing cultural event, but a shining milestone affirming the continuity of the Omani cultural project, its conscious openness to Arab creativity, and its firm belief in poetry’s enduring ability to unite hearts, harmonize visions, and elevate artistic taste.

The ceremony included the screening of a documentary film highlighting the festival’s activities, showcasing it as a prominent cultural event that reflects the vitality and diversity of the poetry scene in the Sultanate of Oman.

The film reviewed key segments of the festival, including poetry evenings, intellectual seminars, and critical readings of the experiences of the honored Omani poets. It also shed light on the contributions of guest poets from the Arab world, offering visual documentation that underscored the festival’s role in invigorating cultural activity and reinforcing the status of poetry in the Sultanate.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Excellency the patron honored the poets participating in the festival.
