Muscat: Activities of the 35th edition of the Fertilizer Industry Technology Conference and Exhibition began in Muscat today.

The three-day event, held under the slogan “Achieving carbon neutrality”, aims at highlighting the latest technological developments in the field, including digital solutions and green transition efforts. It is organized by the Arab Fertilizer Association in cooperation with the Omani-Indian Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO).

The opening of the conference and exhibition was held under the auspices of Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources.

The conference deals with effective solutions to cut down the volume of carbon from fertilizer factories of all types, studies the latest innovative trends in green ammonia technology and explores solutions for the production of high-capacity blue hydrogen. It also looks into advanced related topics, including the espousal of energy conservation initiatives, clean energy trends, water treatment technologies and emissions-free phosphate fertilizers.

The conference program today concluded with a special session on regulating supply and demand. The closing session was attended by major international companies, senior speakers and international experts specialized in the field of fertilizer manufacturing and production technology.

The conference comes in line with the vision of the Arab Fertilizer Union and it reflects Oman’s efforts to promote sustainability and keep pace with global trends in renewable energy to cut down fossil fuel emissions, while at the same time preserving natural resources, without prejudice to the orderly transition strategy aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

On the sidelines of the conference, a technical exhibition was held to showcase the participating companies’ products, in addition to the latest technologies, chemical products, spare parts and equipment related to the fertilizer industry.
