Muscat: The 28th Press Conference of the Supreme Committee on Covid-19 Monday 27 Dec 2021

Studies have shown that receiving two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine gives immunity by 22% against the Omicron mutant, and receiving the booster dose increases this percentage.

The third dose is considered as a crucial dose for people who receive immunosuppressive treatments. It is given from 1 to 3 months after receiving the second dose. The booster dose is for all over the age of 18 and strengthens the immune system.

We expect that we could contain the Omicron mutant if the majority receives the third and booster dose.

4% of the target group received the third and booster dose.

There are no studies that prove an increase in case of fainting or heart attacks as a result of vaccination, but it has been highlighted in the media.

About 230,000 people (citizens and residents) have not received any vaccination dose so far.

In order to reach societal immunity, we need to increase the number of vaccinated people in the Sultanate of Oman.
