The completion rate of the water distribution networks project in the Wilayat of Al-Hamra in Al-Dakhiliyah Governorate has reached about 72%, at a total cost of 26 million riyals, to include existing residential communities and future plans, in order to keep pace with urban expansion and the tourism and economic movement taking place in the state.
Engineer Ahmed bin Nasser al-Abri, in charge of the projects general manager at the Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company, said that the company took into account when implementing the project to cover all 83 villages and residential areas in the Wilayat of Al-Hamra, in addition to some villages belonging to the wilayats of Bahla, Rustaq and Ibri in a safe and sustainable manner. And providing about 3.225 million gallons of water per day for 81,440 people, to include future population and urban growth.
He added that the project was implemented on five tracks that represent the areas of existing residential communities and future plans, and that these tracks are: Jabal Shams track, which contains 7 pumping stations with all its facilities, transmission lines with a length of 44.6 km, distribution networks with a length of 35.5 km, and the eastern mountain track towards the village of Hat. And Balad Seet in the state of Rustaq, which includes 6 stations to boost pumping with all its facilities, transmission lines with a length of 20.3 km, and distribution networks with a length of 5.5 km. It includes 4 pumping reinforcement stations with all their facilities, transmission lines with a length of 8.5 km and distribution networks with a length of 10.8 km.
Al-Abri explained that the project will consist of 22 integrated stations to boost water pumping, and these stations include 68 pumps of different capacities, water transmission lines with a length of 94 km and an integrated water distribution network with a length of 350 km within the five tracks of the project, in addition to a main reservoir with a capacity of 18 thousand cubic meters. He indicated that the project will keep pace with modern technologies, as a system will be installed to control and monitor all project facilities from the National Control Center in Muscat Governorate.
And he stressed: “In order for the company to provide the service before the expected date of the end of the project, parts of the project networks have recently been delivered in the center of the state in preparation for its operation, in order to cover the increasing demand for water, as the company is keen to operate the networks in other regions gradually, according to the readiness These parts are operational.
