Liwa: The second qualification test for the National Scientific Olympiads in mathematics, nuclear science, chemistry and physics commenced today at the Liwa Science and Innovation Center in North Al Batinah Governorate.

The first qualification test in science and mathematics for junior students was also conducted as part of programmes organised by the Ministry of Education, represented by the General Directorate of Scientific Innovation and Artificial Intelligence.

A total of 82 students from schools across the governorate are participating in the tests. Students in physics, chemistry, mathematics and nuclear science are sitting for the second qualification round after passing the initial stage and completing an advanced training programme supervised by national trainers and specialised experts.

Based on the results, a group of students will be selected to represent the Sultanate of Oman in regional and international scientific competitions.

Junior students are taking part in the first qualification test, with successful candidates advancing to a training camp followed by a second round of evaluation to determine final qualifiers for international participation.

The tests form part of the Ministry’s efforts to support scientific innovation, identify talented students and enhance their academic and research capabilities in line with national priorities.
