8th Omani Theatre Festival Concludes

Muscat: The activities of the 8th Omani Theatre Festival, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth at the Madinat Al Irfan Theatre in the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, concluded today.

The festival lasted for ten days. The closing ceremony of the festival was sponsored by His Excellency Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Maawali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in the presence of a number of Their Excellencies, Their Highnesses, and honorable members of the State Council and those interested in the artistic and theatrical sector from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

Dr. Hussein Al Musallam, a member of the jury of the 8th Omani Theater Festival, said: Theater was – and still is – an important part of our lives, and it allows us to express our thoughts, emotions and experiences in a unique creative way; through it, human feelings are aroused, thinking is stimulated and communication with the recipient is created.

He added: After watching the eight competing performances on stage, the committee recommends adhering to the theatrical performance time so that it does not exceed seventy-five minutes, adding an award for choreography (physical and rhythmic expression), and dividing the scenography award into theatrical decor, accompanying music, lighting, costumes and accessories.
