96 Suspected cases of New Covid-19 strain in Oman, Dr Amal al Maani

1, There are 96 cases suspected, though it is a preliminary suspicion only.

2, The treatment mechanism even for the new strain is still the same as before, does not depend on the diagnosis of the strain type.

3, A new factor appeared on the scene regarding the vaccines, that is their effectiveness on the new strains of the virus. So far the two vaccines available in Oman have covered this strain according to available and approved information

4, The recently announced genetic mutations of the virus are a type detected in the United Kingdom in a case coming from Brazil, and another mutation from South Africa. The concern is the rapid spread and severity of symptoms of these mutations

5, The Sultanate has developed a special protocol to detect mutated strains.
