Agreement Signed to Establish Fiber Optic Infrastructure for Surouh Initiative

Muscat: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning and Oman Broadband company signed here today an agreement for setting up the inactive fiber optic infrastructure for the integrated neighborhood initiative “Surouh”.

As per the agreement, Oman Broadband company will establish, operate and lease the inactive fiber optic and communication infrastructures. The step aims to provide communications and fiver optic services in all facilities that require a connection to the internet.

The agreement was signed by Eng. Hamad Ali Al Nazwani, Undersecretary for Housing and Said Abdullah Al Mandhari, Chairman of Oman Broadband company.

Eng. Saud Al Hashimi, Director General of Real Estates Development in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planing said that the agreement comes within the framework of proving services for the “Surouh” initiative.

Al Hashimi added that three new integrated neighborhood projects will be established within the “Surouh” initiative in Al Amirat, Bided and Halban. Those initiatives will contribute to reducing the cost of housing units and making them accessible for all people.
