Agricultural Control Project in Al Batinah North Governorate

Sohar: The Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in the Governorate of North Al Batinah, represented by the Control Department, has begun implementing the Agricultural Control Project to ensure good practices by drawing samples of agricultural crops from the farms of the governorate’s wilayats.

The number of samples taken and sent to the laboratory reached 60 from various agricultural crops, which are famous for the wilayats of North Al Batinah Governorate.

Ismail bin Ibrahim Al-Shezawi, Director of the Control Department in the Directorate, explained that the project aims to raise farmers’ awareness of the mechanism of correct use of agricultural pesticides, the importance of following good technical standards in agricultural production, and the positive effects on the quality of agricultural products.

He indicated that the project comes with funding from the Agricultural and Fisheries Development Fund and under the supervision of the General Directorate of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in North Al Batinah Governorate, pointing to the continuation of work to take samples and test them in the laboratory at various stages by visiting productive farms and taking samples of crops and sending them to the laboratory and making sure that they are free of pesticide residues.
