Agricultural Forum opens in Al Kamil and Al Wafi

The opening of the forum – which is organized by the Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah with the support of the Omani Indian Fertilizer Company (OMIFCO) for 3 three days – was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Sharqiyah, in the presence of His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Nasser Al Bakri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth. Fisheries and water resources for agriculture.

Engineer Hamad bin Rashid Al-Buraiki, Director General of the Directorate General of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Sharqiyah South Governorate, stressed that agriculture in the Sultanate of Oman represents one of the important pillars on which the income of many individuals and families depends, as well as the economy.

He added: The states of Al Sharqiyah South Governorate produce many vegetable crops, as the cultivated area reached 572 acres, producing 21 thousand and 977 tons of vegetable crops for the year 2021, pointing out that the area produced from field crops amounted to about 911 acres, with a production of 8548 tons of wheat, barley, maize and grain crops. fodder, and other field crops. He pointed out that forage crops such as alfalfa and Rhodes hashish reached 5,626 feddans with a productivity of 208,206 tons, while the produced area of ​​fruit crops such as palms, lemons, mangoes, bananas and other fruits amounted to 4,825 feddans with a productivity of 31,146 tons.

The inauguration witnessed a welcome panel, poems, a visual presentation of investment projects in the Sultanate of Oman, and success stories in the agricultural field represented by the fig cultivation project in the Wilayat of Al-Kamil and Al-Wafi, and the thyme cultivation project, as well as the participation of the innovative Omani engineer Sumaya Al-Siyabiya to present her innovations.

The ceremony also included the launch of the sponsor of the occasion, the logo of the forum, honoring the participants, contributors and winners of the implemented competitions, and opening the accompanying exhibition that highlights Omani agricultural products with the participation of a number of governmental and private companies and institutions and craftsmen.
