    Muscat: Upper air trough likely to effect Oman starting from today until 28th of December.

    In a statement Oman Meteorology issues Weather report (1) said: “The latest weather maps and analyzes of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate chance of upper air trough will likely affect the Sultanate of Oman starting at this night 23rd of December 2022 until Wednesday 28th of December 2022

    Forecast details of upcoming days:

    Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th December 2022: 

    The effects of the trough starts tonight and will continue on Saturday and Sunday with clouds advection and chances of isolated rain occasionally thundershowers over govern orates of Musandam, north al Batinah and al Buraimi.

    Expected Impacts:

    Isolated rain from 10-30 mm may cause wadies flow

    Fresh downdraft winds with speed of 15 to 30 kt (30-60km/h)

    Sea state will be moderate to rough with maximum wave height of 2.5m

    Monday 26 December to Wednesday 28 December 2022:

    Another upper air trough will likely affect the Sultanate of Oman starting gradually on Monday afternoon and will continue will Wednesday’s night associated with clouds addition over northern govern orates with chance of rain showers ranging between 10-50 mm. Further update of this weather event will be issued within next 48 hours

    Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precaution during rain and wadies flow and to check the visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins &  reports.
