Aisha Al Saidi becomes first Omani female umpire to officiate in ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships

Busan: Omani international umpire Aisha Al Saidi has become the first Omani female umpire to officiate at the prestigious ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships finals, held in Busan, Korean, which will continue till 25th February 2024.

Aisha Al Saidi said: The World Cup is one of the strongest international tournaments organized by the federation and witnesses the participation of the best players in the game, the levels are very close, and the competition is strong among the players to obtain the first places. The tournament matches are held in 3 rounds in a team system.

She added. All the matches in the tournament that I refereed were strong and high level. Expressing her ambition to participate in table tennis competitions in the Olympics.

Aisha Al Saidi is the first Omani and Gulf female umpire to pass the international blue badge in table tennis. She began her refereeing career in 2016 and participated in managing and arbitrating many international, regional and local tournaments, including the Chinese Star Contender Championship, the French International (Paralympic) Championship, and the Tunisian International Championship.

It is noteworthy that the tournament witnesses the participation of more than two thousand players, male and female, from 40 countries, divided into 8 groups. Among the Arab countries participating in the tournament are: Algeria, Egypt, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and Tunisia.
