Al Buraimi Municipality reviews railway project between Oman and UAE

Al Buraimi: The Municipal Council in Al Buraimi Governorate held its seventh meeting this year today to discuss the progress of work on the railway project that will link the Sultanate of Oman with the United Arab Emirates.

During the meeting, which was chaired by His Excellency Sayyid Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi and Chairman of the Council, the Council was briefed on the progress of work on the railway project that will link the Sultanate of Oman with the United Arab Emirates by hosting Eng. Ahmed Al-Masawi Al-Hashemi, CEO of Hafeet Rail Company, and specialists from the Asyad Group.

Eng. Ahmed Al-Masawi Al-Hashemi, CEO of Hafeet Rail, praised the pivotal role played by all stakeholders in Al Buraimi Governorate and the support provided by the Municipal Council for this project, which will contribute to enhancing logistical and commercial links between vital areas in the two countries. The dialogue also touched on the importance of enhancing local content in all project works to benefit the surrounding areas.

The benefits include opportunities for business owners and small and medium enterprises in the governorate, and creating job opportunities during the implementation and operation phase.

The Council stressed the importance of SMEs interacting with project contractors and contractors submitting bids in tenders. The Projects Department at Al Buraimi Municipality reviewed the bicycle path and the challenges it faces, in addition to reviewing the proposed plans to improve the user experience, and discussing the community’s demands to provide and repair damaged roads, in a way that meets the aspirations and needs of the population, and enhances the quality of services provided in the region, in addition to discussing many topics related to other services.

The Council also discussed the topic of revitalizing the area after Al Buraimi Gate in both directions. Ways to improve this area were discussed in line with the development plans and urban strategy of the governorate, and the importance of implementing improvement projects that raise the level of public services and facilities was emphasized, which enhances the attractiveness of the area and benefits its residents and visitors.
