Al Ghafa International Film Festival concludes

Khasab: The activities of the Al Ghafa International Film Festival for Environment and Climate in its first session were concluded today at the Khasab Sports and Cultural Club in Musandam Governorate, which lasted for 4 continuous days, and its activities varied between seminars, film screenings, joint dialogue sessions, and art exhibitions.

The closing activities included crowning the winning films in the festival’s competitions, where the film “Abu Dhabi Success Story” by director Mansour bin Ali Al Dhaheri from the United Arab Emirates won the Golden Ghafa Award, and the film “Beta Carotene” by director Muhammad bin Ali Al Darushi from the Sultanate of Oman won the Ghafa Award.

While the film “Bucket” by director Adel bin Muhammad Al-Haimi from the Republic of Yemen won the Bronze Al-Ghafa Award, and the Special Al-Ghafa Award was given to the film “Man from Jabal Qahwan” by director Muhammad bin Khalifa Al-Rasbi from the Sultanate of Oman, while the Commendation Award was given to the film “The Religion of Water.” Directed by Haitham bin Sulaiman Al-Muslimi from the Sultanate of Oman.

In conclusion, the jury reviewed the most important recommendations that came out of the festival, which are: paying attention to the literary material of films related to the festival’s specialization through reviewing scientific studies and research, and paying attention to specialized workshops in filmmaking related to the environment and climate, in addition to holding workshops to produce films about Musandam Governorate, in particular. From the people of the governorate to serve upcoming festivals and help filmmakers learn about different environments that serve the artistic community, and to allocate festival awards for each category independently.
