Urban Renewal Project for Al Hamra Neighborhood Reviewed

Al Hamra: The latest developments of the urban renewal project for Al Hamra neighborhood in the Wilayat of Al Hamra, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, were reviewed today during a coordination meeting involving relevant stakeholders.

The meeting, held at the Wilayat office, brought together Sheikh Suleiman Said Al Azri, Wali of Al Hamra, along with officials and specialists from concerned government entities.

Discussions focused on mechanisms for providing essential infrastructure services, including water supply, sewage systems and electricity networks, as well as enhancing technical coordination to ensure integration of works in accordance with a clear implementation timeline.

Eng. Noor Al Hanaiah from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning delivered a presentation outlining the urban design guidelines for Al Hamra neighborhood. The presentation highlighted the project’s vision, planning objectives, implementation phases and proposed development concepts aimed at preserving the authentic architectural character of Al Hamra.

Participants also reviewed the executive action plan and addressed technical challenges related to infrastructure development, emphasizing the importance of adopting a phased schedule for service implementation to ensure site readiness and smooth project execution.

The Al Hamra neighborhood urban renewal project forms part of wider initiatives to develop historical centres in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate. The project seeks to enhance urban sustainability, support tourism activity and improve the quality of life for residents.
