Al Khaboura: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism announced the discovery and registration of a new archaeological site in the “Hajar Al Sinanat” area in the Wilayat of Al Khaboura, North Al Batinah Governorate.
The site contains a collection of rare rock inscriptions and drawings dating back to ancient historical periods, representing a new addition to the Sultanate of Oman’s archaeological and cultural heritage.
According to the Ministry, the site includes a main rock featuring engravings and drawings created using the rock pecking method. The inscriptions include animal figures, human forms, and geometric symbols that reflect aspects of symbolic expression and the relationship between ancient inhabitants and their surrounding environment during different historical eras.
The Ministry stated that the discovery comes within its ongoing efforts to document and preserve archaeological sites across the Sultanate of Oman, noting that the inscriptions provide an important visual record of early human life and environmental patterns during those periods.
The Ministry is continuing archaeological and technical studies related to the site, alongside efforts to preserve and protect it in a manner that enhances its historical and tourism value as part of Oman’s cultural heritage.
