Washington: Apple plans to postpone the launch of the second-generation AirTag until 2025.
This delay, as reported by Bloomberg, is influenced by the surplus inventory from the first-generation AirTag currently present in both retail stores and warehouses.
The report suggests that the company has overproduced the AirTag. Despite the practical benefits offered, it has not achieved the same popularity as other Apple accessories like the Apple Watch and AirPods.
The second-generation AirTag is expected to feature the second-generation ultra-wide band chip compatible with the new iPhone models and Apple Watches. This chip offers a longer range and better precision.
Apple initially launched the first-generation AirTag in early 2021 to help users track and locate personal items when lost, using Apple’s Find My network. It operates on low-energy Bluetooth connections, ultra-wideband technology, and near-field communication.
