Farmers in the villages of Jabal Shams in the Wilayat of Al Hamra in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate have begun harvesting apricot and plum fruits.
Apricots and plums are grown in the villages (Dar Al-Souda, Dar Laqour, Lakhteem, Mandaa, Misfat Al-Khawatir, and Karb village) in Jabal Shams, where a number of seasonal fruits are grown that need moderate temperatures in summer and cold in winter.
Abdullah bin Muhail al-Hatali said: The weather is moderate in summer and cold in winter helps a lot in reaping the fruits of these crops that are suitable for the weather, in addition to the fact that the apricot season is one of the short seasons whose production period does not exceed three weeks in the month of May.
For his part, Asaad bin Nasser al-Khatiri said: During these days, we harvest the fruits of the apricot and plum crop, which are fruits that can only be grown and harvested in cold regions.
He added that the quantities produced are marketed in Al-Hamra, Bahla and Nizwa markets, and that the apricot harvest season does not exceed three weeks.
