Health Sector Milestone as A’Rustaq Hospital Gains Friendly Accreditation
A’Rustaq: A’Rustaq Hospital today received accreditation as a Mother- and Baby-Friendly Hospital from the Ministry of Health, becoming the third hospital in the Sultanate of Oman to obtain Baby-Friendly Hospital status and the second to receive Mother-Friendly Hospital accreditation. This milestone marks a national achievement that reinforces the Sultanate’s commitment to excellence in healthcare services.
The accreditation ceremony was held under the patronage of Eng. Masoud bin Said Al Hashmi, Governor of South Al Batinah, in the presence of Dr. Nasser bin Abdullah Al Shukaili, Director-General of Health Services in South Al Batinah Governorate, along with a number of officials and healthcare professionals.
The ceremony’s programme included an introductory film highlighting South Al Batinah Governorate’s geographical features, service infrastructure, and role in supporting health and community development. It also featured a scientific presentation titled “Breastfeeding: Treatment Before Nutrition,” delivered by Dr. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Farsi, Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Care at A’Rustaq Hospital, who outlined the therapeutic and health benefits of breastfeeding, including its role in enhancing immunity and preventing many childhood diseases.
A documentary film entitled “A’Rustaq Hospital: Friendly to Mother and Child” was also screened, showcasing the hospital’s journey toward meeting the initiative’s standards and the efforts of medical and nursing staff in supporting mothers from pregnancy through post-delivery care. The film reflected the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive, humane, and high-quality healthcare services.
