Awareness lecture about health and psychological care for elderly at Buraimi University

Al Buraimi: The Omani Association for Public Health Promotion, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Health Services in Al Buraimi Governorate, today organized an awareness lecture on health and psychological care for the elderly, entitled “Needs and Challenges”, at Al Buraimi University.

Dr. Laila bint Salem Al-Saadiya, Director of the Primary Health Care Department in the directorate, pointed out the importance of caring for the elderly category through the elderly program, in cooperation with all governmental and private sectors and charities to work on improving the services provided to the elderly.

The lecture dealt with several topics, including defining the elderly and how to take care of them, as well as the role of the Omani Association in promoting public health to spread awareness and provide support for the elderly.

The lecture also discussed the available therapeutic services and behavioral therapy for Alzheimer’s patients, the social and psychological dimension of the elderly, and how to deal with them.

The event aimed to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s disease and similar cognitive disorders, which is a common disease among the elderly. -ONA
