Buraimi Municipal Council discusses ways to drain rainwater

Al Buraimi: The second municipal council meeting in Al Buraimi Governorate, held today under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, discussed the damage caused by the recent weather condition in the governorate and methods of rainwater drainage.

The meeting discussed work on establishing a protection barrier near the Buraimi Gate to change the path of rainwater, and the second phase of constructing another barrier or dam in the Al Uqdah area in the Wilayat of Buraimi, deeper, to change the course of the valley and to mitigate the damage resulting from large amounts of rain falling on the governorate.

During the meeting, the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in the governorate reviewed the projects implemented in 2023 at the governorate level, and the directorate’s strategic plan for the year 2024.

Eng. Nasser bin Ali Al Marshoudi, Director General of the General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth and Water Resources in the governorate, said: The Directorate is working on the electronic agricultural census project, which aims to build updated agricultural economic information in a spatial format through large-scale electronic information, and publish agricultural statistical data and information regarding the infrastructure of the agricultural sector.

The Council hosted representatives and owners of the extension of the industrial zone in the Wilayat of Buraimi, where the facilities required by investors and landowners in the industrial zone were discussed, and the responses received from the concerned authorities in this regard were reviewed.

Eng. Tariq bin Hassan Al Mamari, Director of Administrative Affairs in Al Buraimi Governorate, presented an integrated vision for the initiative to care for government and private sector employees in the governorate, which aims to create benefits that serve employees and be an incentive for them, as a set of programs and initiatives were presented to develop their performance and job production.

The Council also discussed the responses received for telecommunications services in Al Buraimi Governorate, the strategic plan for developing this sector and the work that is under implementation and planned to be implemented during this year.
