Oman’s Environment Authority begins campaign to plant one million wild tree seeds in Al Amerat

Al-Amerat: The Environment Authority, represented by the General Directorate of Nature Conservation, began today a campaign to plant one million seeds of wild trees, including: Sidr, Samar and Ghaf, in the Wilayat of Al-Amerat in Muscat Governorate, under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Rabi’ al-Sunaidi, the governor of Al-Amerat.

The campaign includes planting about 500,000 wild tree seeds per day, and they are planted in 4 locations on the banks of the valleys and mountains of the Al-Amerat state.

The two-day campaign aims to spread green cover in Muscat Governorate, specifically in the Wilayat of Al Amrat, and to preserve environmental systems in the targeted areas, in addition to enhancing the role of community participation of citizens and residents in preserving plant diversity, and implementing the plans of the national initiative to plant 10 million trees.

The occasion was attended by Engineer Badr bin Ali Al Bahri, Director General of the General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in the Wilayat of Al Amerat, and a number of officials from the Environment Agency, with the participation of a number of volunteers from the civil teams in the state.
