Beijing: China successfully launched an experimental satellite aimed at developing satellite internet technology, using a Smart Dragon-3 carrier rocket from a sea-based platform off the coast of Yangjiang in Guangdong Province.
The maritime launch operation was conducted under the supervision of the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center.
The satellite forms part of China’s efforts to establish a space-based internet network through a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites to provide high-speed global connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
The mission comes ضمن a series of launches that began in 2024, as China accelerates the deployment of its planned satellite constellation, which is expected to exceed 15,000 satellites.
