Muscat: China’s Alibaba Group begins its investments in Oman

In a statement Oman news agency said: In cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, the Green Mountain Data Company “Data Mount” and Global Emerging Technologies “ITCO” sign a cooperation agreement in the field of cloud computing with the Chinese “Ali Baba” Group, stipulating that the two companies manage, operate and market the “Alibaba” cloud computing center and services in the region, which will enhance the Sultanate’s position as a regional gateway for cloud computing services and technologies.

Under the agreement, Alibaba will invest about 10 million US dollars during the initial stages, which is to provide central devices and modern technologies, while “Data Mount” will invest approximately 4 million US dollars in equipping the infrastructure of the information center, -ONA
