Muscat: Chinese player X won the men’s singles title of the 2024 Oman International Table Tennis Championship after defeating his Japanese counterpart, Ryuichi Yushima, 3-1 in the final match of the championship held at the main hall of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bousher.
The tournament, which lasted for the past four days, witnessed strong and exciting competitions with the participation of nearly 100 participants representing China, Japan, India, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei, France, Germany, Syria, Iran, Egypt, Italy, Yemen, and the Sultanate of Oman.
In the women’s singles, Japanese player Sakura Yokoi snatched the title of this category after defeating Chinese player Yang Yuen 3-0. In the men’s doubles competition, the French duo Joey Seyfried and Bastine Rambert were able to win the men’s doubles title after they succeeded in eliminating the Chinese duo Xiang Ping and Yuan Lixin 3-1, while the Chinese duo of Fan Shuhan and Xu Yu were able to win the women’s doubles title after defeating their teammates Yang Yuen and Zhou Sing from China 3-1.
The Chinese continued their dominance of the championship titles, as they also won the mixed doubles title, where the duo of Wang Wei won the title after defeating the other Chinese duo, Lixin and Jiman 3-2.
After the conclusion of the final match, Abdullah bin Mohammed Bamkhalef, Chairman of the Oman Table Tennis Federation, crowned and honored the winners and first place winners in the various categories of the tournament.
