Clarification issued regarding “the citizen who lives in a tent”: MOSD

MOSD issues clarification regarding “the citizen who lives in a tent”:

Muscat: The Ministry of Social Development issued a clarification regarding the video clip circulating on social media sites of “the citizen who lives in a tent”.

The Ministry explained that the competent department of the Ministry had previously visited the citizen to provide assistance to him and complete the procedures for renting a house to accommodate him and his family after he left the house he had previously rented, but he refused to move to live in the house that was provided for him. This was due to his desire to live in another area in the state, and accordingly, an agreement was made with the state’s charitable team to rent a house for him, with the need for an official rental contract between the two parties to pay the rent through the competent department, but the citizen did not stop by reviewing the department to finalize the procedures.

In addition, this ministry had previously offered the citizen – the owner of the video – a job in the private sector, but he refused to join the job under the pretext of insufficient salary.

While the Ministry affirms its keenness to provide support and assistance to all eligible beneficiaries of its services, it calls for investigating accuracy and credibility and taking information from its official sources.
