Muscat: The field and construction works of the Wadi Jebi Dam in the village of Al-Shu’iya in the Wilayat of Yanqul in Al-Dhahirah Governorate were completed with the help of civil and community efforts and under the supervision of the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, represented by the Municipality of Yanqul, at a total cost of more than RO 85,000.
Ali bin Humaid Al Badi, who is supervising the project, said that the total length of the dam is (69) meters and the maximum height of the dam is (9) meters, while the storage capacity of the dam is (22) thousand cubic meters, and the length of the spillway is (28) meters and its width is (8) metres. In the construction operations of reinforced concrete, stones and filters, its construction took approximately (114) days.
He explained that the Wadi Jebbi Dam was implemented in accordance with the highest specifications for building dams in the Sultanate of Oman and includes a number of tourist and recreational facilities to attract visitors in a manner consistent with the nature of the place and the moderate climate. It will contribute to feeding many villages and towns in the Wilayat of Yuqul, starting from the village of Al-Shu’iyah, Al-Muraybi, Al-Mishk, Al-Rawdha, Al-Jazirat and Al-Buwairdah the way to Wilayat of Dhank.
The dam includes a rest area and a number of public facilities to receive visitors when the valleys flow and the dam fills. An area of land has also been allocated for tourism investment during the coming period, and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is in the process of paving and maintaining the road leading to the dam.
