Sabeen Investment Expresses Condolences Over Fatal Construction Incident in Muttrah
Muscat: Sabeen Investment Company has expressed its deep sorrow and sincere condolences following a tragic construction accident at the Muttrah Cable Car project, which resulted in the death of two workers and injuries to others.
In a statement, the company said the incident occurred during structural installation works at one of the project’s development sites in Muttrah, involving the collapse of a construction structure. The victims were identified as an Italian and a Pakistani national.
The company clarified that the incident took place during the construction and implementation phase of the project and was not related to any operational, commercial, or trial activities of the cable car system, contrary to inaccurate information circulated publicly. It noted that the incident is linked to technical and occupational safety procedures during execution and site supervision.
Sabeen Investment Company commended the swift response and professional efforts of the Royal Oman Police and the Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority, whose teams provided immediate assistance and support upon receiving the report.
The company reaffirmed its full commitment to occupational safety and health standards across all its project sites and confirmed its full cooperation with the relevant authorities. It added that any further measures will be taken in accordance with the outcomes of the official investigations currently under way to determine the causes of the incident.
