Tasks of the “Laboratory for Converting Industries and Future Industries” Kicked off here today.
As many as 190 participants from different government departments shared expertise during the laboratory, implemented by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in conjunction with Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Unit and Industrial Innovation Academy.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Qais Mohammed Al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion.
Dr. Saleh Said Masan, Commerce and Industry Undersecretary, said in a speech on the occasion that the lab has been designed to achieve key objectives of the industrial sector, improve its performance and augment its contribution to the gross domestic production. He added that the lab also seeks to furnish a suitable investment environment in the industrial sector.
Masan pointed out that the lab constitutes a step forward in forging the best possible solutions for challenges facing the local converting industries sector.
Dr. Ayman Abdullah Al Fudhaili, CEO of Industrial Innovation Academy, said that the lab was the outcome of a study on projects and initiatives in the field of converting industries and future industries. The lab explores options for converting these projects and initiatives into executive plans whose applicability will be entrusted to the Supervisory Committee.
The lab, which runs till 26 January, evolves around five main themes: “Investment Opportunities”, “Future Industries”, “the Industrial Strategy”, “Governance” and “Industrial Sector Enablers”, in addition to outputs of converting industries’ clinics held in December 2022. – ONA
