Mirbat: Coral reefs cleaning campaign was launched in the Wilayat of Mirbat, organized by the Directorate General of Environment in Dhofar Governorate, with the participation of a number of governmental, private and civil agencies and volunteer teams.
Essam bin Saeed Al Busi, Head of the Marine Environment Department at the General Directorate of Environment in Dhofar Governorate, said that the campaign comes as part of the authority’s efforts to preserve the marine environment by removing fishing nets and remnants attached to coral reefs as a result of wrong environmental practices.
It is worth noting that the campaign lasts five days and also aims to enhance the environmental awareness of its participants and the community and the importance of spreading awareness about the dangers of waste that pollute coral reefs and affect wildlife in the marine environment in general.
