COVID-19: Oman begins vaccination training for nurses

Muscat: The Directorate General of Health Services in Muscat Governorate of  represented by the Department of Disease Control and Surveillance, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health’s Nursing Department (recently), organized a training workshop for the expanded program of immunization nurses, at the directorate’s building in Darsait.

The workshop targeted the participation of 25 nurses from the various EIP focal points in the DG health institutions, where they were updated on “Covid 19” vaccine, and they were trained on the mechanism of using the vaccine, participants also identified vaccine’s with the target groups and sites to receive the vaccine.

A mechanism has also been put in place to work and prepare to start administering the vaccine to the target groups that were previously announced by the Ministry as soon as it arrives, as the High-risk groups will be vaccinated according to priority, including front-line workers who provide basic service, chronic disease patients, elderly and immunocompromised.

Earlier Oman’s Ministry of Health announces the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine will arrive in the sultanate of oman today Thursday, 24th December. The vaccination campaign will start from Sunday, 27th December, and the Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Saeedi will be the first to receive the shot of the vaccine.

It is noteworthy that the General Directorate of Health Services in the Governorate of Muscat held a previous meeting in the presence of Dr. Thamrah bint Saeed Al-Ghafriya – who is in charge of the functions of the General Director of Health Services for the Governorate of Muscat – and in the presence of a number of officials in the Directorate, who was among the directorate’s early preparations to discuss the method of receiving and distributing the vaccine, and the mechanism of work in Give it to his target groups.
