Oman’s CPA launches ‘Your Rights Are Protected’ campaign in Sohar

Sohar: The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) today launched the “Your Rights Are Protected” campaign in cooperation with the Social Protection Fund (SPF) and targets all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, in the Wilayat of Sohar in the North Al Batinah Governorate.

Salim bin Ali Al Hakmani, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Authority, stressed the importance of this campaign, which targets all consumers of different age groups.

The campaign also calls on merchants and suppliers to cooperate with these consumers and ensure that they obtain their full rights. It is hoped that there will be broad participation in the various governorates that this campaign will cover and delivering the message to its target audience.

He added that the Authority aims, through the “Your Rights are Protected” campaign, to create a balanced market to achieve common interests between the parties to the consumer equation, ensure the smooth flow of purchasing movement, and avoid wrong commercial practices. It also aims to consolidate the concept of social responsibility and strengthen the partnership between the consumer and the supplier.

The campaign inauguration ceremony included a review of all aspects of its implementation mechanisms and the events and activities accompanying it, a review of its objectives, the working papers submitted by the Consumer Protection Authority and the Social Protection Fund, and the stages of implementation of these activities.

The ceremony also included a visual presentation of the Consumer Protection Authority’s efforts in the field of community awareness and the initiatives and campaigns it holds for consumers, suppliers, and merchants alike to convey the Authority’s message and goals to all segments of society, in addition to the importance of integration and partnership with the authorities related to consumer protection in the public and private sectors, in line with Oman 2040 vision.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed an introduction to the social protection benefit of the social protection system, and a number of short awareness films and the efforts made by the Social Protection Fund. It should be noted that the launch of the “Your Rights Are Protected” campaign coincides with the launch of the social protection system.
