Muscat: Recently, the Complaints Department of the Consumer Protection Authority was able to retrieve an amount of OMR 10,500 for a consumer against the value of a vehicle that he purchased from a car showroom after some technical malfunctions appeared repeatedly.
The consumer had purchased a new vehicle from one of the auto agencies in Muscat Governorate, and after using it, he experienced repeated technical malfunctions in the air conditioning and steering wheel. He returned the car to the agency that had begun repairing the problems, but the issue continued to exist.
After receiving a complaint from the consumer, CPA called the relevant agency personnel and promptly began the complaint process.
Following the complaint, they worked together to find amicable solutions. Due to the vehicle being parked for an extended amount of time, the buyer claimed reimbursement for both material and moral losses as well as the recovery of the vehicle’s value.
A friendly settlement was achieved, and it was decided to give the customer their money back and let the agency retrieve the car.
CPA underscores the importance of suppliers adhering to consumer protection laws and fulfilling their obligations to ensure consumer rights and safety when delivering goods and services.
