CPA recovers RO 5,800 for a consumer in North Al Batinah

The Directorate General of Consumer Protection in North Al Batinah Governorate, represented by the Department of Consumer Services and Market Control, recently managed to recover (5,800) Omani riyals for a consumer, as part of its efforts to find solutions to consumer complaints and recover their rights in accordance with the laws and regulations that regulate the work of the Authority.

The details go back to the Directorate receiving a complaint from a consumer in which he stated that he had purchased a vehicle from one of the vehicle sales establishments, but the establishment did not abide by the terms of the contract concluded to provide the vehicle upon the arrival of its delivery date at the agreed time, which prompted him to address the establishment to terminate the contract and recover the amount paid only That no agreement was reached between them, and accordingly he submitted his complaint to the Directorate, which in turn took the procedures followed in such cases where the complaint was investigated, and an amicable settlement contract was reached between the two parties, which consisted of rescinding the contract and returning the prepaid amount to the consumer, amounting to (5800). ) Omani riyals, which was accepted by the complainant because it raises the damage he suffered.

It is noteworthy that the legal guarantee according to the text of Article (19) Clause (5) of the executive regulations of the Consumer Protection Law promulgated by Royal Decree No. (66/2014) confirms that “it is prohibited for the supplier to fail to provide the commodity upon its delivery date, or to fail to perform the service agreed upon.” or failure to complete it on time.
