Muscat: The Consumer Protection Authority in Muscat successfully facilitated a resolution between two consumers and manpower recruitment offices in the governorate, culminating in the recovery of OMR1050.

This settlement exemplifies the ongoing commitment of the Authority to address consumer grievances and mediate disputes in an equitable manner. The genesis of this resolution can be traced back to complaints lodged by two consumers with the complaints department at the CPA’s head office.

The consumers had engaged the services of manpower recruitment agencies with the intention of hiring workers for their residences. However, it transpired that despite advancing OMR1050 to the offices, the recruitment process was unduly delayed, and the agencies failed to fulfill their obligations of sourcing the required workforce.

Furthermore, the recruitment offices adamantly refused to refund the sums paid by the consumers, contravening Article 39 of the Consumer Protection Law, which mandates service providers to deliver services in a timely and satisfactory manner.

Upon receiving these complaints, the Authority swiftly intervened, initiating necessary actions to address the grievances at hand. Subsequently, an amicable settlement was brokered between the concerned parties, stipulating the termination of the existing contracts and the reimbursement of the full amount of OMR1050 to the aggrieved consumers.

The Consumer Protection Authority emphasizes the importance of adherence to the stipulated terms and conditions governing service provision. It underscores that any violation of these regulations constitutes a blatant infringement of the Consumer Protection Law.
