CPA seizes over 440 expired paint cans in Bawshar

Over 440 expired paint cans were seized by the Consumer Protection Authority in Wilayat Bausher, Muscat Governorate, from a number of paint and building supply stores there.

This is a part of the Authority’s initiatives to stop the infractions perpetrated by some suppliers and fight the proliferation of illegal, non-compliant, and expired items that have a detrimental effect on people’s health and society.

CPA, represented by the Market Regulation and Control Department, conducted inspection campaigns on paint and building supply outlets that led to the seizure’s specifics. As a result, several infractions were found, the most notable of which was the sale of outdated paint.

Over 440 paint cans that had expired, some of which had done so in 2019, were seized. CPA took the customary actions, seizing the goods and took legal action against the offending retailers.

CPA calls on all traders and providers to abide by the Consumer Protection Law No 66/2014. CPA stresses that it will spare no effort in following up and monitoring the markets, controlling everything that would harm the health and safety of consumers, eliminating this phenomenon, and tracking its sources.

It will also work to take all legal measures against violators. It urges individuals to report violations which they may notice through the various communication channels of CPA.
