Muscat: Credit Oman, the national institution specializing in credit insurance, signed a strategic agreement today with Hal Capital, a Sharia-compliant fintech company operating in the Sultanate of Oman and licensed by the Central Bank of Oman. The agreement aims to enhance Small and Medium Enterprises’ (SMEs) access to financing and support sustainable economic growth.
The agreement was signed by Haitham Abdullah Al Yaqoubi, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Credit Oman, and Aziz Diab, Chief Executive Officer of Hal Capital. The partnership reflects a shared vision to strengthen financial services available to SMEs, which are considered a cornerstone of the Omani economy.
Under the agreement, Credit Oman will provide credit insurance coverage for financing extended by Hal Capital to Omani SMEs. This mechanism is designed to enable enterprises to secure financing with greater confidence, thereby enhancing their ability to conduct trade in both local and international markets. The partnership addresses key challenges faced by SMEs, including limited access to funding and insufficient collateral.
The agreement also reflects Credit Oman’s continued commitment to improving access to finance for SMEs, promoting financial inclusion, and supporting economic diversification. By mitigating financial risks, the partnership contributes to helping enterprises overcome economic challenges and advance sustainable development objectives.
Haitham Abdullah Al Yaqoubi stated that the agreement underscores the importance of supporting SMEs, noting that such support fosters innovation, creates employment opportunities, and contributes to driving the national economy forward.
He added that the partnership aligns with government directives aimed at strengthening the role of the private sector and increasing its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Credit Oman’s services help protect business owners in their commercial transactions while providing insurance solutions and advisory support that enable companies to trade with confidence and security in global markets.
