Refund the full amount of OMR 7870 to the consumer

Muscat: A cordial settlement between consumer and a carpentry and blacksmithing establishment in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate

In North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the Consumer Protection Department has successfully facilitated the recovery of a significant sum, amounting to OMR 7870, for a consumer through an amicable settlement with an establishment specializing in the carpentry and blacksmithing sector.

The sequence of events leading to this recovery began with a consumer engaging an establishment specialized in carpentry and blacksmithing to manufacture doors for a total of OMR 7870.

However, upon the scheduled delivery date, the consumer discovered that the establishment had ceased operations, leaving the consumer without the commissioned doors. Subsequently, the consumer lodged a formal complaint with the Consumer Protection Department, prompting swift intervention and summoning of the involved parties from the establishment.

In response to the complaint and under the guidance of the Consumer Protection Department, the establishment expressed a willingness to resolve the issue amicably. As a result, both parties reached a settlement agreement wherein the full amount of OMR 7870 was to be refunded to the consumer.

The Consumer Protection Authority emphasizes the paramount importance for suppliers to comply with existing consumer protection laws, adhering to the prescribed regulations and obligations.

By upholding these standards, suppliers safeguard the rights of consumers when providing goods and services, fostering a fair and trustworthy marketplace for all stakeholders involved.
