Cyclone Biparjoy: No direct impact on Oman weather within next 3 days

Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) issues latest weather report (3) on Tropical Cyclone Cat.1 (Biparjoy) 

The latest weather maps and analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicates the development of tropical system to a tropical cyclone CAT 1 in the center of the Arabian Sea and it lay centered on latitude 15.8 N and longitude 66.0 E, wind speed around the center is estimated between 64 to 70 knots, 1065 km away from Sultanate coast, and there is no direct impact on the Sultanate of Oman weather within the next 3 days. Most of the parameters indicate of dropping the chances of impact on the Sultanate of Oman weather.

Friday 9/6/2023:

The tropical cyclone is CAT 1, the wind speed around the center is estimated between 80 and 65 knots, with high and medium clouds advection over the coastal areas of Arabian Sea. Caution, maximum wave height may reach 3 — 5 meters along South Al Shargiya Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.

Saturday 10/6/2023:

The tropical cyclone is likely to intensify to CAT 2, the wind speed around the center is estimated between 83 to 90 knots with high and medium clouds advection over the coastal areas of Arabian Sea. Caution, maximum wave height may reach 3 —5 meters along South Al Sharqiya Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates.

Sunday 11/6/2023:

The tropical cyclone will decrease to CAT 1, with high and medium clouds advection over the coastal areas of Arabian Sea. Caution, maximum wave height may reach 4 — 6 meters along South Al Sharqiya Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates with chance of storm surge causing sea water inundation over low level coastal areas.
