Muscat: A documentary book titled Hurricane Shaheen was published by Omani writers Hilal bin Amer Al Qasimi and Sanad bin Hamad Al Mahrezi, documenting the epic of the Omani society cooperating in the face of Hurricane Shaheen, which struck the Sultanate of Oman in October 2021.
The book issued by the Seeds of Excellence Library indicates that the Sultanate of Oman was not far from the seasonal climatic conditions that visit it from the Arabian Sea, and the human being is the son of his environment that is affected by and from it, and despite the magnitude of the disaster and the severity of the hurricane, the people of Oman benefited greatly from it in all aspects and the two researchers, Hilal bin Amer Al Qasimi and Sanad bin Hamad Al Mahrezi, monitored the events for their history.
When the hurricane occurred, they collected everything they could reach, and searched for everything that was dated about previous climatic conditions that Oman was exposed to from multiple sources.
The journey of preparing the book began, which required multiple visits to collect information, to be a collector of various events and contributions from all individuals and institutions.

The book traces the beginnings of predictions of the formation of a hurricane in the Arabian Sea, the first warning issued by the competent authority, the beginning of the effects of the hurricane on the eastern coast of Oman, the accompanying clouds that began to enter the land, and the first news about rain on the coasts and the indirect effects due to the formation of cumulus cells on the heights, and the tracking continues to The night of the heavy rains that the north of Al Batinah was subjected to and its environs, monitoring the effects and stories told by some of those who lived through painful events, and the number of victims and the devastation left by the hurricane.
Then the book dealt with the government standings and the officials who visited the affected areas, and the gift of the military forces who carried on their shoulders the love of the homeland, surveyed the land and cleaned the houses, all of that was with pictures and reports, then dealt with the help of the Omani society, and the great standing of their young and old, state after state, and the names of the people who played honorable roles, and the contributions from the private sector, and did not lose sight of any role in the performance of duty towards the cohesive social fabric from Dhofar in the south to Musandam in the north, so that the book brings us into the depth of events, the depth of cooperation, the depth of originality and the noble morals that society has. The book also conveys the poems of the poets describing the hurricane and praising the gift and societal help, which increased the accuracy of the documentation.
