Cyclone Tej to make landfall over coasts of Yemen, heavy rainfall continue in Dhofar

Muscat: Civil Aviation Authority issued latest updates about the Tropical System in Arabian Sea Tej

In a statement said: “Tropical cyclone category 1 (Tej) continues to move towards the coasts of Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Yemen. The wind speed around the center of the tropical cyclone is estimated to be around (64-82) Kts. The forecasts suggest its further weakening within the upcoming hours and it make landfall over the coasts of the Re-public of Yemen as a tropical storm (34-63) Knots. The direct imapacts are expected to reach Dhofar governorate with heavy rainfall amounts and fresh winds ranging between (25-60) Knots.

23 Oct Monday

-Heavy rainfalls (50 – 300 mm) cause flash floods (Wadis)

-Strong winds with speed of (25-60 kt)

-Very rough sea along the coastal areas of Arabian Sea (5-10)m with chance of storm surge sea water inundation over low level coastal areas

24 Oct Tuesday

-Heavy rainfalls (50-100 mm) cause flash floods (Wadis)

-Strong winds with speed of (20 -60 kt)

-Very rough sea along the coastal areas of Arabian Sea (5-10)m with chance of storm surge and sea water inundation over low level coastal areas

25 Oct Wednesday

-rainfalls (20-50 mm) causes Wadis flow

-winds speed of (10-20 kt)

-Moderate sea along the coast- al areas of Arabian Sea

CAA also advised, “The sea wave continues to rise on the coast of the Arabian Sea today (Monday) and will be very rough (5-10) meters as the tropical condition Tej approaches the coasts of the Sultanate of Oman.

Please avoid going to the sea and engaging in marine activities
