Death sentence to Kuwaiti woman for killing Filipina maid

Muscat: The Kuwait Criminal Court on Wednesday sentenced a Kuwaiti female to death by hanging, who tortured to death of a Filipino housemaid, Jeanelyn Villavende on 28th Dec, 2019, and the kuwaiti female husband was sentenced to 4 years in jail for covering up the crime and not reporting .

According to the Kuwaiti “Al-Qabas”, the lawyer of the philippine embassy, Fawzia Al-Sabah, said that the verdict was fair and in compliance with the law and Sharia, as the accused severely tortured the victim over a period of several days, then detained her in the room and prevented her from seeking medical treatment until her death.

“May the court’s decision on the Villavende murder case serve as a reminder to everyone that no Filipino is a slave to anyone, anywhere and everywhere, and that justice will always come to the defense of the weak and oppressed, “a statement by the Phillipines Embassy said.

Jeanelyn Villavende’s death certificate from the Sabah Hospital said she died due to “acute failure  of the heart and respiration as a result of shock and multiple injuries to the vascular nervous system” said hospital statement.
