Dhofar Governor’s Office holds meeting on electricity transmission, distribution in the governorate

Salalah: The office of the Governor of Dhofar discussed today with the companies Namaa Holding  and Oman Electricity Transmission Company  the importance of providing good services, transmission and distribution networks of electricity in the Dhofar Governorate in an appropriate manner, which is in line with the current and future plans, projects and investment advantages of the governorate. And finding sustainable and renewable solutions in this regard.

This came during a meeting held by His Highness Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, with Eng. Omar bin Khalfan Al Wahaibi, CEO of Namaa Holding Company, and a number of officials of the Oman Electricity Transmission Company, in the presence of Their Excellencies the governors.

During the meeting, His Highness pointed out the importance of the electricity sector and the services it provides, as one of the main drivers for achieving the goals of sustainable social, economic and tourism development, appreciating the efforts made by companies operating in the sector and their partners to provide efficient and quality service, especially in the aspect of transmission and distribution of electricity in a safe, reliable and economic manner.

His Highness the Governor of Dhofar stressed the importance of cooperation and coordination, and unification of efforts between the various authorities related to the electricity and energy sector in the governorate.

The Oman Electricity Transmission Company gave a visual presentation during which it touched on its strategic projects in the Dhofar Governorate in the field of energy and electricity, including the “connection” project and its phases, especially the second phase of it, concerned with linking the main electricity transmission network with the electricity transmission network in the Dhofar Governorate (Duqm – Salalah).

It is scheduled to be completed during the year 2026. In addition to the project to connect the networks of rural areas, and the projects of wind power plants in the governorate, the presentation also touched on the challenges and difficulties facing the projects, solutions and plans provided by the company in this context.

The meeting touched on the strategic projects of the electricity transmission and distribution sector in the Dhofar Governorate, and the visions regarding them, and the possibility of benefiting from the comparative advantages of the governorate, especially in the field of renewable and clean energy, as well as the difficulties and problems faced by some investment projects with regard to the provision of electricity, and the importance of involving the offices of governors and the local community when developing Future plans for electricity projects.
