Dhofar Education Directorate Honors 324 Students in Quran Contest

Salalah:  The Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate today honoured 324 students for their achievement in the Holy Quran competition for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The ceremony was held at Sultan Qaboos Youth Complex for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah under the patronage of Sayyid Ghosn bin Zaher Al Abri, Governor of Rakhyut.

Dr. Mohammed bin Awad Beit Suwailim, Head of the Competition’s Technical Committee, said that the Holy Quran represents a foundation for values and a source of inspiration for academic and personal excellence, noting that the competition aims to strengthen students’ connection with the Quran and promote Islamic values.

He added that this year’s edition saw wide participation and high standards in memorisation and recitation, including notable participation from students with disabilities.

A total of 324 students were honoured, while Dhofar secured second place at the Sultanate level in last year’s competition.

The ceremony included student speeches, Quran recitation presentations by students with disabilities and a visual segment carrying messages for parents.

Winners were honoured across various categories, including memorisation, recitation and voice performance, in addition to recognising outstanding schools, supervising teachers and judging committees.

The competition forms part of the Ministry of Education’s efforts to develop students’ recitation and memorisation skills and support emerging talents.
