Muscat: Duqm Material Market project at the Special Economic Zone at Duqm has reached around 70 percent completion. The project is one of the main projects in the Sino-Omani Industrial Park in SEZAD and the project is jointed developed between Oman Wanfang Company, the developer and operator of the China- Oman Industrial Park in Duqm. Al Thabet Holding Company and Oman Company for the Development of Special Economic Zone at Al Duqm (TATWEER DUQM)
Engineer Ahmed bin Hamood Al-Sawafi of the Oman Company for the Development of the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Tatweer) said: “The project consists of a showroom for building materials, in addition to five buildings that include multi-use workshops and four warehouses with a total built-up area of 31,138 square meters. The project includes construction works associated infrastructure such as roads, electrical works, sewage network, water network, irrigation and landscaping works. While Tatweer Company is implementing and managing the project and supervising the construction work.”
The establishment of the Duqm material market aims to provide a new concept for commercial centers in the building materials sector, in a style that differs from other commercial centers and complexes in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to showrooms and wholesale and retail stores. The market will focus on light manufacturing and assembly activities through special workshops. It also focuses on bringing goods and products from the Chinese markets and manufacturing technologies to the Sultanate of Oman, and deal with wholesale orders for local and international markets. It is hoped that the project, after its completion, will attract many local and international companies specialized in the fields of building and construction.
