Oman’s Eastern Mountain Oasis Project Nears Halfway Mark in Al Hamra
Al Hamra: The completion rate of the “Eastern Mountain Oasis” project in the Wilayat of Al Hamra, A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, has reached 50 percent.
The project spans an area of nearly 10,000 square metres and includes tourism and service facilities such as a 300-square-metre investment restaurant, an outdoor theatre, 13 sitting gazebos, prayer rooms, pedestrian walkways and open spaces.
A’Dakhiliyah Governorate continues infrastructure and urban development works in the Al Jabal Al Sharqi area as part of efforts to enhance tourism facilities and accommodate increasing visitor numbers, particularly during the summer season.
Al Jabal Al Sharqi is considered one of the governorate’s key natural tourism destinations due to its environmental and geographical features that attract visitors and mountain tourism enthusiasts.
Sheikh Sulaiman Said Al Azri, Wali of Al Hamra, said in a statement to Oman News Agency that the project is being implemented in response to growing tourism demand and the need to improve services in the area.
He added that the project provides an integrated tourism environment while preserving the natural character of the site and contributes to enhancing visitor experience and supporting tourism and economic activity in the wilayat.
Al Azri noted that efforts are underway to complete additional service facilities, including toilets, directional signage and designated camping sites to improve the site’s readiness throughout the year.
The project forms part of development plans aimed at enhancing tourism sustainability, supporting investment opportunities and diversifying economic activities in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
