Environmental sanitation campaign begins in Mirbat

Mirbat: An environmental sanitation campaign implemented by the Dhofar Municipality began today in the Wilayat of Mirbat in the Dhofar Governorate, as part of its endeavor to preserve the public health of society and the environment and combat disease vectors, and will continue until next March 5.

The implementation of the campaign was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Ahmed bin Mohsen Al-Ghassani, Mayor of Dhofar, in the presence of His Excellency Hamdan bin Hamad Al-Junaibi, Governor of Mirbat and a number of officials.

Munir bin Awad Al-Jidyani, Director General of the General Directorate of Health Affairs in the Municipality of Dhofar, gave a speech in which he said: The implementation of the environmental sanitation campaign in the state of Mirbat under the slogan “Together for a Healthy Environment” came within the efforts of the Municipality of Dhofar to provide a clean, healthy environment by removing deformities and transporting waste to maintain public cleanliness. Reducing pollution and controlling disease vectors such as mosquitoes and other insects for a healthy, sustainable environment.

He added that the campaign includes awareness programs for community members on the correct ways to dispose of waste and the importance of preserving public health and the environment, stressing the importance of concerted efforts between various stakeholders and civil society to achieve the goals of the campaign.

The environmental sanitation campaign targets the center of the state, and includes residential neighborhoods in Old Mirbat, the port area, the industrial area, and the waterfront, in addition to the Tawi Ateer area in the mountain and the plain.
