Equestrian Festival Launched in Bidiya

Bidiya: The Bidiya Equestrian Club, in cooperation with the Oman Equestrian Federation, organizes in the wilayat of Bidiya in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, the activities of the Bidiya Equestrian Festival in Merkad “Al Mintarib”, as part of the heritage and sports activities within the winter season in the state.

Khalid bin Hamad Al Hajri, President of the Bidiya Horse Racing Club, explained that these events were part of the club’s heritage and sporting events, which confirm the importance of equestrian sports and the interest of horse owners in preserving the revival of traditional horse sports, in addition to the fact that horse sports and the events accompanying them always witness follow-up and interest from fans.

Those interested in such sports from the Sultanate of Oman and abroad, especially in this period when the state of Bidiya and the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate are witnessing a tourism movement. The festival activities included a race of purebred Arabian horses and purebred “Tharbad” horses participating from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to the Ardha running skills with the participation of more than 80 horses from various participating states, presenting the skills of riders with special needs, presenting Humble and Marwas shows, and skill shows.

And the heritage competition for the best performances for this category of horses participating in the festival, in addition to holding horse-related competitions, most notably the “Best Horse Dressing Competition,” “The Fastest Horse Dressing Competition,” and the “Pony Horse Competition for children aged 14 years and under.” The festival concluded by holding race rounds. The Elite for Purebred Arabian Horses.

At the conclusion of the festival, His Excellency Mahmoud bin Yahya Al Dhahli, Governor of North Al Sharqiyah, the sponsor of the occasion, honored the first-place winners in the Elite Race for Purebred Arabian Horses, and honored the contributors and participants in making the festival’s activities a success.
