Excavation work begins at the Al Baleed archaeological site in Dhofar
Dhofar: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in cooperation with the Italian University of Naples, is carrying out research and excavation work at the Al Baleed archaeological site in the Dhofar Governorate, which began its work on December 7 and will continue until January 7, 2024.
The archaeological work plan for this season is in the outer perimeter of one of the mosques that was previously excavated for two past seasons. A test probe will be conducted to know and understand the construction stages of the site, while clarifying the features of the mosque.
The mission team is also completing the study of archaeological materials and conducting comparative studies with some archaeological sites in Dhofar Governorate.
